LNG Japan Corp. was established in October 1, 2001 by Nissho Iwai Corp. (currently Sojitz Corp.) and Sumitomo Corp.
LNG Japan is entering into new businesses to become an industry-leading company and to establish a solid foundation on the alliance of the operational basis of Nissho Iwai Corp. (Now Sojitz Corp.) and Sumitomo Corp.

1973 Indonesia 1973 Sales Contract (1973 S/C) signed (December 3)
1974 Japan Indonesia LNG Co., Ltd. established
1977 First LNG tankder for 1973 S/C (LNG Aquarius) arrived at Senboku LNG Terminal II (August 14)
1981 Indonesia 1981 Badak LNG Sales Contract (1981 S/C) signed (April 14)
1983 Badak LNG Transport Inc. established
First LNG tanker for 1981S/C (Bishu Maru) arrived at Chita LNG Terminal (August 31)
1987 Nusantara Gas Service Co., Inc., a joint venture with PERTAMINA, established.
Yokkaichi LNG Contract signed.
1990 Indonesia Badak IV LNG Sales Contract signed (October 23)
1992 Indonesia MCGC Sales Contract signed (October 13)
1995 Extension Contracts of 1973 S/C and 1981 S/C signed (August 3)
1997 Capital invested in RAS LAFFAN LNG CO., Ltd in Qatar
1999 Acquisition of Muturi Block in Indonesia for Tangguh LNG Project
2001 LNG Japan Corp. established and commenced operation in Tokyo Headquarters, Kansai Office, Chubu Office, Kyushu Office, Chugoku Office, Jakarta Liaison Office, Doha Liaison Office, and LNGJ USA Inc.(New York) (October 1)
2002 LNG OneWorld web site opened to public (April)
2004 Acquisition of additional equity interest in the Tangguh LNG Project (January)
2006 Houston Office of LNGJ USA Inc. opened.
London Liaison Office opened.
